NATO has selected Saab’s GlobalEye to become its future airborne surveillance platform, replacing older aircraft with a far more advanced intelligence and command system. Equipped with powerful long-range radar and sophisticated sensor technology, GlobalEye can simultaneously monitor activities across air, sea, and land while identifying modern threats including stealth aircraft, drones, ballistic missiles, and hypersonic weapons. The platform will significantly improve NATO’s ability to coordinate multinational operations, strengthen real-time situational awareness, and respond more effectively to evolving security challenges. The selection also reinforces Saab’s position as a leading defense technology provider while creating long-term opportunities for Sweden’s aerospace sector through production, innovation, and lifecycle support.
