Washington has cleared a potential $425-million military sale to Denmark covering three MH-60R Seahawk helicopters along with mission systems, spares and support equipment. The package includes navigation devices, magnetic anomaly detection systems, multi-mode radar and missile-warning technology. Denmark would also receive spare T700-GE-401D engines, secure communications equipment, logistical support and technical documentation. Associated services would cover system integration, testing, logistics, personnel training and engineering support for equipment obsolescence. The US has emphasized that the proposed agreement remains subject to finalization and would not require additional US government or contractor personnel to be stationed in Denmark. The new aircraft would add to Denmark’s nine existing MH-60Rs, delivered during 2016–2018. Squadron 723 at Air Base Karup operates the Seahawks for anti-submarine warfare, land-attack and maritime-patrol tasks, including deployments from Royal Danish Navy ships. Denmark’s potential acquisition comes amid additional international demand for the helicopter. South Korea has received US approval for a roughly $2.4-billion purchase of 24 MH-60Rs, supplementing its initial order for 18 aircraft. New Zealand was also authorized to receive the helicopter under a separate $1.5-billion deal approved in June.
