The Argentine Air Force has doubled the size of its F-16 fleet through the arrival of a second six-aircraft shipment from Denmark. The transfer forms part of the $300-million agreement concluded in 2024 and includes four F-16AM single-seat fighters and two F-16BM two-seat aircraft. The aircraft flew approximately 7,000 miles (11,265 kilometers) across the Atlantic before landing at Río Cuarto in Córdoba. Three US Air Force KC-135R Stratotankers provided aerial refueling support during the ferry operation. Defense Minister Carlos Presti formally received the aircraft, highlighting their importance in rebuilding air-defense capabilities following the retirement of Argentina’s Mirage fleet in 2015.Argentina has now received 12 of the 24 Danish F-16s, with the first six delivered in December 2025 and the remaining aircraft scheduled to arrive by 2027. The broader acquisition could cost as much as $900 million when weapons, aircrew training and airbase upgrades are included, according to local media. The latest fighters will initially stay at Río Cuarto while work continues at Tandil, where the aircraft will ultimately serve with the 6th Air Brigade.
