Washington has given preliminary approval for Australia to receive a Baseline 2 upgrade for its MC-55A Peregrine ISREW aircraft. The package covers a wide range of support, including system modifications, spare parts, logistics assistance, and technical expertise to ensure continued fleet performance.
The proposed deal, valued at approximately $404 million, falls under the US Foreign Military Sales program and will require Congressional clearance before moving forward. Australia’s request aims to maintain the MC-55A’s advanced capabilities in intelligence gathering, surveillance, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare.
In a statement, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said the planned upgrade would not only strengthen Australia’s air operational readiness but also reinforce interoperability with US forces operating in the region.
L3Harris, headquartered in Texas, will serve as the primary contractor for the effort. Officials confirmed that there are no offset arrangements linked to the transaction.
