The US Army has demonstrated an expanded role for its H-60M Black Hawk through an experiment involving next-generation autonomous unmanned systems. According to footage released by Anduril Industries, the helicopter deployed multiple Altius-700M launched effects, which subsequently operated autonomously and successfully struck both stationary and moving targets. The event took place as part of Project Convergence Capstone 6 during a three-day flight campaign at Fort Irwin, California, over the Mojave Desert. The trial forms part of the Army’s continuing experimentation with crewed-uncrewed teaming, in which conventional helicopters can deploy autonomous systems to extend their reach and provide additional capabilities against battlefield targets. By demonstrating the launch and autonomous employment of Altius-700M systems from an H-60M platform, the Army is evaluating how next-generation unmanned technologies can complement existing aviation assets.
