Shield AI has partnered with the US government to integrate its Hivemind autonomous software into the Low-Cost Uncrewed Combat System (LUCAS). The software provides autonomous navigation, swarm coordination, and battlefield decision-making for the loitering munition platform. LUCAS is designed as an affordable one-way attack drone capable of operating in large numbers to saturate enemy air defenses. With Hivemind integration, the drone can perform missions in contested environments with minimal operator input, showcasing the Pentagon’s broader push toward AI-driven combat autonomy and swarm warfare capabilities.
