A $715-million South Korean modernization project will upgrade more than 30 UH/HH-60 Black Hawk helicopters by 2029. The analog cockpit will be replaced with a digital suite featuring multi-function displays and mapping tools. The upgrades also include radar warning receivers, survival computers, and communication enhancements. Automatic hover and obstacle warning systems will ease pilot workload. The program, managed by Korean Air with support from LIG Nex1 and Collins Aerospace, will generate over 50 new aerospace technologies domestically. Officials said the effort will enhance infiltration, search, and rescue missions while boosting Korea’s defense sector.
