President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has confirmed a landmark export deal for 48 Kaan fighter jets with Indonesia, boosting Turkish defense industry momentum.
The $10 billion agreement spans a 10-year period, involving production by TAI of the fifth-gen Kaan aircraft, which first flew in February 2024 using F-16-style engines, with indigenous engines planned later.
Turkey’s total defense export revenue grew to $7.1 billion in 2024, reflecting an increase of $1.6 billion over 2023, led by high-value systems like the Bayraktar drones.
