Edgewing has secured a multi-billion-pound contract to continue development of the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), the ambitious sixth-generation fighter initiative jointly led by the United Kingdom, Italy, and Japan. Acting as the programme’s prime contractor, the consortium is responsible for advancing aircraft design, systems engineering, digital development, and technology integration as the project moves toward full-scale engineering. The future aircraft will combine stealth, artificial intelligence, advanced networking, manned-unmanned teaming, and digital mission management to replace existing Eurofighter Typhoon and Mitsubishi F-2 fleets around 2035. The programme represents one of the world’s most advanced multinational combat aviation projects and is expected to define the future of allied air power for decades.
