Lockheed Martin is committing $300 million to expand and modernise its missile production operations in Grand Prairie, Texas. The project will bring the facility’s overall footprint to roughly 735,000 square feet through new construction and the conversion of existing administrative space for manufacturing activities. Planned improvements include precision machining, automated production equipment and digital manufacturing systems. The location contributes to programmes such as the Patriot PAC-3 MSE interceptor, THAAD anti-ballistic missile system, Precision Strike Missile and Joint Advanced Tactical Missile. Manufacturing startup Hadrian will support the expansion by installing a 24-machine automated production cell, which Lockheed Martin employees will operate. The upgraded operations are expected to commence in early 2027. The investment is part of a wider corporate effort to modernise more than 20 facilities across the United States, backed by planned spending of up to $9 billion through the end of the decade. Lockheed Martin says the broader programme is intended to strengthen munitions output and support around 6,000 jobs nationwide.
