Germany has signed off on a massive 2.2 billion-euro deal with Diehl Defence to deliver four IRIS-T surface-to-air systems to Ukraine, enhancing Kyiv’s layered air defense strategy.
The systems are equipped to detect and engage high-altitude threats at speeds exceeding 3,700 km/h, with target ranges extending up to 100 kilometers. They will work alongside existing systems already fielded in the region.
Ukrainian officials confirmed that this delivery reflects Germany’s continued strategic support, helping Ukraine resist aerial assaults from Russian forces in its ongoing defense campaign.
