The first completely US-made Tamir interceptor has been delivered to Israel from the Raytheon–Rafael Advanced Defense Systems production facility in Camden, Arkansas. The milestone establishes the plant as the first site outside Israel capable of producing complete Iron Dome interceptors, rather than supplying only components. The new production source is intended to improve delivery rates and reinforce the missile defence partnership between the US and Israel. Camden will also produce SkyHunter, the American variant of Tamir, for the US Marine Corps’ Medium-Range Intercept Capability programme. Rafael developed the interceptor with Raytheon’s support. It combines radar guidance, a command datalink and a blast warhead to engage rockets and other short-range threats within a range of 4 to 70 kilometres (2 to 43 miles).
