The US Navy is strengthening its Tomahawk industrial base through a multiyear agreement with L3Harris Technologies covering additional production capacity for important missile components. Working with the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division at China Lake, L3Harris will support the manufacture of components for the Navy’s expanding Tomahawk inventory. The company has supported the weapon for more than 30 years and produces items including the Mk 135 solid-fuel booster and blast-fragmentation warhead. Financial details and the precise production increase were not released. Tomahawk missiles provide long-range precision attack capability from surface vessels and submarines and have expanded into maritime strike through the Block Va configuration. The Navy has requested $1.52 billion for Tomahawk modifications in fiscal 2027 and has separately awarded Raytheon a $22.9-billion production acceleration contract. Block V upgrades are also improving navigation and communications, with later versions adding enhanced land- and maritime-target capabilities.
