Belgium carried out another air mission over the Black Sea as part of Operation Black Sea Region, deploying its F-16s alongside French Mirage 2000 jets. The flight took place over international waters in a region where freedom of navigation and overflight increasingly face geopolitical challenges. By taking part, Belgium underscores its commitment to European security and to maintaining allied presence in a sensitive corridor linking Europe to the Middle East and Caucasus. The Belgian and French aircraft flew in close tactical coordination at high altitude, demonstrating strong interoperability supported by aligned communications, procedures, and engagement rules. The formation included a fully equipped Belgian F-16 and four Mirage 2000s, including dual-seat variants adapted for strike or training. Their joint maneuver highlighted the depth of planning required for safe yet operationally meaningful cooperation in international airspace near contested zones.
