L3Harris Technologies of the United States and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have formalized a strategic defense agreement to codevelop the Blue Sky Warden, a new generation light-attack and intelligence aircraft built to strengthen Israel’s airborne capabilities. The collaboration reflects an increasing shift in global defense strategy toward affordable and enduring multi-role aircraft that combine combat and ISR versatility for modern warfare.
The upcoming Blue Sky Warden will draw heavily from L3Harris’ Sky Warden architecture, a platform recognized for its adaptability and mission efficiency. It will incorporate features inspired by the OA-1K Skyraider II, the light-attack aircraft now being inducted by the U.S. Special Operations Command. The Israeli variant will integrate advanced sensor fusion, targeting systems, and real-time data-sharing technologies, enabling superior situational awareness across extended operational zones.
Through the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding, both L3Harris and IAI have committed to joint design studies, system integration, and capability trials aimed at developing an aircraft that meets current and emerging mission profiles. The Blue Sky Warden project reinforces the deep technological alliance between the U.S. and Israel while fostering collaborative innovation in next-generation air combat platforms suited for precision operations in contested environments.
