Elbit Systems announced that it has been awarded a $260 million contract by Airbus Defence and Space to supply its cutting-edge J-MUSIC™ Directed Infrared Counter Measures for Germany’s A400M military transport aircraft. The contract, lasting six years, is part of a procurement initiative by the Bundeswehr’s Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Operations (BAAINBw). The J-MUSIC™ system is designed to protect aircraft from infrared-guided missile attacks, especially those launched from portable air-defense weapons like MANPADS.

This system is a core member of Elbit’s MUSIC™ self-protection suite and integrates high-performance imaging with advanced laser technology to autonomously identify and disrupt threatening missiles in flight. Its modular architecture allows easy adaptation to different aircraft and seamless integration with missile warning sensors. Moreover, the lightweight and compact form factor helps maintain aircraft efficiency and payload capacity while providing robust defense in hostile environments.
