Two De Havilland Twin Otter short takeoff and landing (STOL) utility aircraft have been sent to Denmark’s Home Guard, strengthening its assistance for the larger police and defense forces. Modified for patrol duties, the aircraft were purchased through an eight-year lease arrangement and will support domestic missions and areas of operations under the European border agency Frontex by conducting surveillance, searches, and other tasks as needed. The two will take the place of two Britten-Normann Defender transport planes that were purchased in 2015 under a different lease deal and will soon retire after completing roughly 6,800 flying hours.
