To improve the capabilities of its air force, Sri Lanka is acquiring a Pakistani Chengdu J-7 aircraft and several American Bell 206 helicopters. The investment includes one Chinese-made J-7 in its FT-7 export trainer form from Islamabad and eight of the 206 helicopters in their TH-57 Sea Ranger military derivative ordered from Washington DC.
