India is upgrading its MiG-29K fighter jets with the indigenous Uttam Mk2 AESA radar to replace aging Russian systems. The move improves detection, tracking, and resistance to electronic warfare while addressing reliability issues caused by harsh sea conditions. It also supports integration of Indian-made missiles, strengthening self-reliance as the Navy continues to depend on these fighters for the long term.
