The Grenadier 4×4 is entering the military vehicle market, with INEOS Automotive securing initial supply orders from Italy and Austria. Italy has become the first NATO country to order the military vehicle, with deliveries scheduled to commence in early 2027. Austria’s government has separately contracted for protected versions intended for its defense and interior security organizations.For the Austrian order, Valentin Tusch, a local vehicle-armoring and conversion company, will modify the vehicles. The first deliveries and trials are expected by the end of this year. INEOS has highlighted the Grenadier’s ability to handle demanding terrain and heavy loads, along with its versatility, maintainability and robust axles, as reasons for its selection. The company has not released further details about the orders.INEOS is also pursuing additional military opportunities across Europe and NATO. Team Grenadier, which brings together INEOS with SMT Defence and NMS UK, has entered trials for the UK Ministry of Defence’s Light Mobility Vehicle requirement.A key offering is the Enhanced Protection Vehicle, an armored Grenadier derivative designed to shield occupants from small-arms fire, shell fragments and explosions. Its integrated armored cabin is reported to meet NATO STANAG Level 2 protection standards. Available imagery shows an enclosed body, a snorkel and a front-mounted recovery winch. The company is proposing the EPV as a potential successor to Land Rover and Pinzgauer vehicles in the British military’s light mobility fleet.
