The Dutch government has formally proposed joining OCCAR as part of efforts to deepen European defense cooperation and streamline multinational procurement programs. If approved by parliament, the Netherlands would gain access to a collaborative framework that manages major defense development and acquisition projects across Europe. Dutch leaders believe closer coordination on procurement will improve operational compatibility between allied forces while reducing duplication and improving efficiency. OCCAR currently manages programs involving transport aircraft, electronic warfare systems, and next-generation missile technologies, highlighting Europe’s push toward greater defense integration amid evolving security challenges.
