The US Army has conducted an evaluation of FireAnt unmanned ground vehicles integrated with an M2A4 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, demonstrating a potential method for carrying small robotic systems alongside conventional armored platforms.Swarmbotics AI, which developed FireAnt, published imagery showing five of the small UGVs attached to the external racks of a Bradley operated by the Army’s 1st Cavalry Division.The activity formed part of Pegasus Charge 3, a series of Army demonstrations examining autonomous technologies, tactical weapons, and counter-unmanned-system solutions.The evaluation is connected to the Army’s Transformation in Contact modernization effort, which seeks to rapidly introduce emerging capabilities into frontline formations. The FireAnt trial illustrates how manned armored vehicles could potentially serve as mobile carriers for robotic assets.Such concepts could enable ground units to deploy multiple autonomous systems without dedicating separate transportation assets, while also exploring new ways of combining human crews with AI-enabled robotic teams.
