Polish industry has presented a new Heavy Infantry Fighting Vehicle weighing around 40 tons, designed to transport troops into intense combat environments while offering a high level of armored protection. The programme is being developed by defense group PGZ together with Huta Stalowa Wola.The new vehicle combines heavy protection with a remotely controlled weapon station and modern surveillance, observation and targeting systems. Using a remote turret can help keep the crew inside the protected hull while operating the vehicle’s weapons and sensors. The design is intended for operations in challenging environments and across difficult terrain, while also accounting for extreme weather conditions.Survivability appears to be a central priority of the programme. Both the vehicle crew and the infantry personnel carried inside are expected to benefit from the platform’s heavily protected configuration. The emergence of the design also reflects Poland’s continuing effort to modernize its land forces and develop domestically supported armored capabilities suitable for high-intensity warfare.The 40-ton weight class places the vehicle among heavier IFV concepts, where protection is prioritized alongside mobility and firepower. As development progresses, details such as the exact protection package, sensor suite, weapon configuration and future procurement plans will determine how the platform fits into Poland’s broader armored force structure.
