Canada has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada a major contract valued at nearly CAD $2 billion for the production of additional Armored Combat Support Vehicles. The agreement includes 190 vehicles for Canadian Army requirements and another 35 units intended for transfer to Ukraine.The contract also establishes a strategic partnership framework between the Canadian government and GDLS-Canada to support future armored vehicle modernization, technology integration, and long-term fleet maintenance.The vehicles are part of Canada’s ACSV program, which began in 2019 with an initial order of 360 platforms. Based on the LAV 6.0 design, the fleet is replacing older armored vehicles while improving mobility, protection, and mission flexibility.The ACSV platform can be configured for several roles, including troop transport, medical evacuation, command operations, engineering support, electronic warfare, and recovery missions. The vehicles are expected to achieve full operational capability by 2028, with supporting infrastructure completed by 2030.
