Through a newly inked deal with Thales, Sweden is set to overhaul its military radar systems by deploying the Ground Master 200 MM/C, a compact, multi-mission radar engineered for comprehensive surface and air threat detection. The contract, valued at 1 billion Swedish kronor, confirms a long-term commitment to strengthening Swedish territorial surveillance.

The GM200 MM/C is built for quick fielding and can operate in diverse environments, enabling the tracking of fast-moving and stealthy targets alike. This upgrade will not only modernize Sweden’s sensor network but also enhance coordination with partner nations—aligning with Scandinavian and NATO interoperability standards.

The improved radar thus forms a critical line of defense for Sweden against contemporary aerial and missile threats, reinforcing operational readiness into the next decade.
