On 11 December 2024, the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Defence signed a contract with Spanish shipyard Navantia in Riyadh for three additional Avante 2200 corvettes, similar to the five already in service with the Royal Saudi Naval Forces. Construction of the first corvette will begin soon, with delivery of the final ship set for 2028. Navantia will build the first unit in Spain and complete the second and third units in Saudi Arabia, where the Hazem combat system will be integrated and tested by SAMINavantia, the joint venture between Saudi Arabian Military Industries and Navantia.
