Sweden and Finland are preparing to introduce Patria’s new TRACKX tracked armored personnel carrier following an agreement covering procurement and future production. Deliveries are expected from 2027, after which the vehicles will undergo field evaluations. The two countries may conduct portions of the testing together. Sweden is set to acquire five pre-series TRACKX vehicles, while Finland’s planned order size remains undisclosed. A separate letter of intent also establishes a framework for possible future series production, which Patria expects to launch in 2027–2028. TRACKX originated through the FAMOUS multinational development programme, supported financially by the European Defence Fund. The platform is designed to bridge the gap between wheeled and tracked mobility, offering the speed and flexibility associated with wheeled vehicles while retaining strong off-road performance. Latvia and Norway also expressed interest in the platform through a July 2026 statement of intent. TRACKX is built to operate across difficult terrain, including snow-covered regions, wetlands, and deserts. It combines ballistic and mine protection with amphibious capabilities. The approximately 15-ton vehicle is 7 meters long and can accommodate as many as 12 personnel. A 360-horsepower Caterpillar diesel engine gives it a maximum road speed of 80 km/h and a range of about 500 km. Water mobility is rated at 4 km/h. Wide rubber tracks, adjustable hydropneumatic suspension, and a low center of gravity are intended to improve handling and stability. The vehicle can be equipped with a 12.7mm machine gun and is designed to provide improved protection and situational awareness. Patria sees TRACKX as a possible replacement for legacy platforms including the M113 and MT-LB.
