General Dynamics Land Systems has secured a $54.3 million US Army contract covering maintenance, technical assistance, and field sustainment for the service’s Stryker vehicle fleet.Under the agreement, the company will provide manufacturer-level technical support, field service personnel, and assistance with vehicle fielding. Support will also be available when electronic technical documentation and logistics systems are not yet fully integrated into Army operations.The contract runs until August 2031, with future task orders establishing individual work sites and funding requirements.Strykers are the main combat and support platforms used by the Army’s Stryker Brigade Combat Teams. The eight-wheeled vehicles provide infantry formations with protected transportation, mobility, and weapons capabilities across a variety of operational roles.The family includes specialized versions for reconnaissance, troop transport, command operations, medical evacuation, engineering tasks, mortar support, and anti-tank missions.The latest support award comes while the Army is pursuing several Stryker upgrades. In December 2025, an improved Stryker armed with a 30mm cannon underwent live-fire trials at Yakima Training Center. Soldiers also used digital command-and-control tools that supplied commanders with real-time information for adjusting vehicle movements and fire-control decisions.Protection improvements are also underway. The Army received its first Strykers with redesigned double-V hulls in March 2025, with the new configuration intended to improve crew protection from mine and explosive blasts.General Dynamics has further been assessing new armor technologies under the Stryker Enhanced Armor program. The six-month evaluation examines how additional protection can be integrated while maintaining vehicle durability and performance.The new sustainment agreement will help ensure that technical support and maintenance remain aligned with the Army’s continuing Stryker modernization program.
