Norway is adding the Patria 6×6 to its armored vehicle inventory through a new CAVS procurement. The first batch consists of 20 command-and-control vehicles, each equipped with a Protector RS4 remote weapon station for additional defensive capability.The contract extends beyond the vehicles themselves and includes training, logistical support, and spare components. Norway has also negotiated options that could increase its purchase by another 40 command variants and their associated weapon stations.The latest order follows the signing of a framework arrangement that moved Norway toward serial CAVS acquisition. Oslo joined the multinational program in 2025 as its seventh member.The CAVS initiative is intended to give participating countries a common 6×6 armored platform that can be adapted for different military requirements. Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Norway, and Britain currently participate in the program.Patria’s vehicle is built for a wide range of missions and is expected to remain in service for up to three decades. It is approximately 8 meters long, with a maximum weight of about 20 tons depending on its configuration.A three-person crew can operate the vehicle while up to 10 troops can be transported. Its Scania diesel engine produces 394 horsepower, enabling a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour and a range of approximately 700 kilometers.The Norwegian purchase strengthens the country’s protected mobility fleet while contributing to the wider standardization of armored vehicles among European defense partners.
