Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer has secured a long-term support agreement to provide maintenance, logistics, and technical services for the Hungarian Air Force’s C-390 Millennium transport aircraft. Under the deal, Embraer will utilize its European support network to sustain Hungary’s two-aircraft fleet, reinforcing operational readiness as the country expands its air mobility capabilities within NATO.

The C-390 Millennium is optimized for a wide spectrum of military and humanitarian missions. In addition to strategic and tactical airlift, the aircraft is capable of medical evacuation, disaster relief, search and rescue, aerial refueling, precision cargo drops, and paratrooper operations. Hungary’s aircraft also introduces a world-first capability with a modular roll-on/roll-off intensive care unit, enabling fast conversion between medical and transport missions.

According to Embraer, the support contract is designed to preserve the C-390’s high reliability standards. Since the aircraft entered operational service, it has consistently recorded mission availability above 99 percent. The enhanced sustainment package will support higher operational demand as the Hungarian Air Force broadens the aircraft’s mission scope.

Hungary ordered its two C-390 Millennium aircraft in November 2020, including air-to-air refueling capability, crew training, and integrated support services. The first aircraft was delivered to Kecskemét Air Base in September 2024 and has since supported refueling operations for Hungary’s Saab Gripen fighters. Delivery of the second aircraft in November 2025 positioned Hungary as the first C-390 operator globally to complete its full fleet acquisition.
