Under a 10-year defense cooperation deal, Turkey has delivered five helicopters to Somalia, enhancing its aerial and naval capabilities.

The package consists of three combat helicopters for offensive operations and two utility aircraft to support naval logistics. The aircraft were flown into Somalia via Turkish and Qatari military transport planes.

Alongside this equipment, Turkey has completed the pilot training phase of the program, strengthening Somalia’s ability to address security threats from Al-Shabaab and protect its coastal borders amid geopolitical disputes.
