To create new parts for the UK’s next generation of military aircraft, parts from decommissioned Royal Air Force Tornado jets have been ground down and 3D printed. Compressor blades from jet engines and other parts with a high titanium content were designated for recycling. Additive Manufacturing Solutions (AMS) cleaned and processed the materials to create 3D-printed compressor blades and a nose cone, which were subsequently mounted on a miniature engine idea called Orpheus.
