Canada is working with the Quebec-based L3Harris division to determine what is needed to build an air force F-35 sustainment facility.Ottawa’s current plan to replace its fleet of CF-18 Hornets from the 1980s with 88 fifth-generation CF-35A Lightning II fighter planes includes the proposed depot. As part of the infrastructure project, L3Harris will assess the center’s launch costs and specifications as well as any enterprise prospects it may present after construction. The government stated that the company’s long-standing relationship with the Royal Canadian Air Force—particularly in providing maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for the military’s current Hornets—was the basis for choosing them for this endeavor.
