Pratt & Whitney, a division of RTX, will supply TJ150 turbojet engines to power the Black Arrow missile created by Leidos Dynetics. The contract follows the US Air Force’s decision to designate the weapon as the AGM-190A, formally introducing it as part of the military’s stand-off strike capabilities. The TJ150 features a compact structure and uses advanced manufacturing technologies, including 3D printing, which enables faster production timelines while preserving efficiency and reliability. With more than 150 pounds of thrust, the engine supports the missile’s ability to travel at speeds close to Mach 0.8 and reach operational altitudes of about 30,000 feet. This propulsion system allows the Black Arrow to deliver long-range precision strike capabilities for modern combat environments.
