Germany is moving forward with plans to purchase Boxer armored vehicles featuring the RCT30 turret system, originally developed by Rheinmetall and KNDS Deutschland. The acquisition is intended to enhance the country’s Medium Forces by integrating key firepower and mobility assets.
The proposed budget for the program stands at 3.9 billion euros ($4.5 billion), with 1.1 billion euros ($1.2 billion) earmarked to initiate the procurement. Though an exact vehicle count has not been disclosed, sources estimate the deal could cover up to 148 units.
These new platforms will operate alongside 123 Boxer vehicles already being acquired in the Australian CRV configuration to serve Germany’s Heavy Weapon Carrier Infantry program.
