The US Air Force has awarded StandardAero a contract valued at approximately $343 million to provide depot-level support for Rolls-Royce T56 engines powering the C-130 Hercules fleet. The work covers multiple versions of the engine and includes maintenance, repair, overhaul, and component-level support. The program is intended to maintain engine availability for aircraft operated by the US and international military customers. The C-130 fleet supported by the program includes more than 1,200 aircraft across the US armed forces and 29 foreign military sales operators. This makes long-term propulsion support an important element of fleet readiness. The contract has a 10-year period of performance and will be coordinated through the Air Force Sustainment Center at Tinker Air Force Base. StandardAero’s main activities will take place in San Antonio, while other contract participants will perform work at additional facilities.Turbopower and Segers Aero Corp. are among the companies holding positions on the competitive contract. Their responsibilities can include work in the United States and Canada. The Rolls-Royce T56 has been a major propulsion system for military aircraft for many years. On the C-130, the engine supports a maximum speed of around 320 knots, a range of approximately 2,050 nautical miles, and operations at altitudes reaching about 33,000 feet.Beyond the Hercules, the T56 family has also been used on the P-3 Orion and E-2 Hawkeye. Its long service history has resulted in a substantial global installed base. With more than 18,000 units produced and hundreds of millions of flight hours accumulated, the engine remains an important component of military aviation logistics. The new contract will help preserve maintenance capacity as operators continue using T56-powered aircraft.
