Indian defense-electronics company Astra Microwave Products expects to receive formal production orders linked to the first three regiments of the Army’s QRSAM air-defense system, potentially before the close of 2026.Astra has already contributed key electronic subsystems to the programme and is now preparing for its transition into larger-scale manufacturing. The company is reportedly receiving initial production-related orders, with formal contracts expected to follow the main procurement agreement involving BEL.The QRSAM system is designed to provide highly mobile short-range protection for Army formations and high-value military assets. Its architecture combines mobile missile launchers, surveillance and tracking sensors, command-and-control infrastructure, and supporting equipment. For Astra, the programme could become a meaningful production opportunity as it moves beyond developmental work. The expected three-regiment requirement is particularly relevant because it could generate revenue while the company continues preparing for larger production volumes associated with the Uttam AESA radar.India’s increasing emphasis on layered air defense is also creating demand for systems capable of responding to a wide range of aerial threats. QRSAM’s ability to accompany maneuvering forces gives it a specific role within this broader defense architecture.Previous company guidance indicated that QRSAM-related revenue could begin contributing as the programme enters production. If the expected orders are placed in 2026, the programme could become one of Astra Microwave’s important near-term growth opportunities.
