General Atomics Aeronautical Systems has announced a new cooperation agreement with Calidus Aerospace to co-produce MQ-9B SkyGuardian drones and Gambit collaborative combat aircraft in the UAE, marking a significant step in regional unmanned aircraft manufacturing. The partnership is governed by a memorandum of understanding that outlines joint industrial and operational responsibilities.
The agreement covers a full spectrum of production and integration activities, including airframe fabrication, final assembly, system verification, flight testing, and operational acceptance. Command-and-control and mission system integration will also form a key component of the collaboration, with GA-Intelligence supporting battle management and software integration to ensure operational readiness and data-driven decision-making.
GA-ASI’s collaboration with Calidus builds on a series of international partnerships aimed at expanding its presence in global defense and aerospace markets. The company has increasingly focused on localized production, digital integration, and advanced mission systems to meet the evolving requirements of allied forces operating in complex environments.
In 2025, GA-ASI strengthened its international portfolio through multiple agreements, including a deal with Barzan Holdings in Qatar to co-develop advanced battle management and intelligence software. Additional partnerships include a long-term agreement with CAE to deliver next-generation training systems for MQ-9B operators and a joint initiative with Hanwha Aerospace to develop the Gray Eagle STOL drone, highlighting GA-ASI’s role as a key player in next-generation unmanned and collaborative combat aircraft programs.
