MakinaRocks, a South Korean physical AI developer, has supplied an artificial intelligence-based digital assistant for use aboard a Pohang-class naval vessel. The system is designed to help sailors retrieve equipment manuals, operational procedures and maintenance guidance through an on-device interface. Rather than requiring personnel to locate information manually across multiple technical documents, the assistant provides a more direct means of consulting relevant references. The deployment addresses growing demands on naval crews as warships become more technologically complex and military personnel numbers decline. With hundreds of individual systems potentially requiring operation and maintenance, the ability to access technical guidance efficiently can support routine shipboard activities. The initiative highlights the potential role of AI-based information tools in helping naval personnel manage complex equipment and make technical references more accessible during operations.
