Brazil and Germany are strengthening naval cooperation through the procurement of additional Tamandaré-class frigates. Built locally by the Águas Azuis consortium, these ships are designed to modernize Brazil’s fleet by replacing older frigates and corvettes. Derived from the MEKO A-100 platform, the vessels offer multi-role capabilities including air defence, anti-ship warfare, and helicopter operations. The program highlights Brazil’s focus on domestic shipbuilding and long-term naval capability development.
