Rheinmetall has revealed its vision for next-generation surface combatants through the introduction of the GMF 140 guided missile frigate. Weighing approximately 6,000 tonnes, the vessel is engineered to operate in some of the world’s most demanding maritime environments while delivering a comprehensive range of combat capabilities.The frigate integrates ballistic missile defense, air defense, anti-submarine warfare, and long-range strike missions into one highly capable platform. This multi-role approach allows naval forces to reduce fleet complexity while maintaining operational flexibility across a wide spectrum of military missions.Although designed primarily for extended blue-water deployments, the GMF 140 is equally capable of supporting coastal operations, international coalition missions, and expeditionary deployments. Rheinmetall positions the platform as a future-ready solution capable of addressing rapidly evolving maritime threats through advanced sensors, integrated combat systems, and multi-domain operational capabilities.
