The United States Navy has unveiled an ambitious 30-year “Golden Fleet” modernization roadmap aimed at expanding the service to more than 450 ships during the early 2030s while reforming shipbuilding and acquisition practices. The strategy includes significant investments in destroyers, submarines, aircraft carriers, amphibious vessels, logistics ships, and autonomous maritime systems. The navy plans to allocate billions of dollars toward Columbia-class ballistic missile submarines, Virginia-class attack submarines, Arleigh Burke destroyers, and unmanned surface and underwater vehicles, while also increasing distributed manufacturing capacity and rebuilding the US maritime industrial base.
