Romania is advancing its naval modernization program by building two MMPV 90 light corvettes domestically with Rheinmetall support. The ships will feature advanced radar, anti-submarine, and air-defense systems while supporting helicopters and drones for multi-role operations. The program strengthens Romania’s Black Sea security posture and boosts local defense-industrial capabilities under the EU-backed SAFE initiative.
