Canada is moving forward with one of its largest naval modernization efforts by selecting Germany’s TKMS to supply a new generation of submarines. The future fleet will replace the aging Victoria-class boats and provide the Royal Canadian Navy with enhanced capabilities for underwater surveillance, intelligence gathering, maritime defense, and Arctic security missions. The decision also strengthens Canada’s defense relationship with Europe while supporting NATO cooperation. In addition to improving operational readiness, the project is expected to deliver substantial economic benefits through industrial partnerships, advanced manufacturing opportunities, and long-term maintenance work within Canada, helping modernize both its military and defense industrial base.
