Spain’s S-80 submarine program has reached a key stage with testing of its advanced air-independent propulsion system. The technology allows submarines to stay underwater longer by generating power through onboard fuel-cell systems. The development is expected to improve endurance, stealth, and operational flexibility for the Spanish Navy’s next-generation submarine fleet.
