India has enhanced maritime security with the commissioning of ICGS Akshay, an indigenous fast patrol vessel developed by Goa Shipyard Limited. The vessel will strengthen coastal surveillance, rescue operations, maritime law enforcement, and environmental protection missions. Its induction highlights India’s growing self-reliance in defence shipbuilding and modern maritime capability.
