Thales has secured a contract to modernize Greece’s Hydra-class frigates with upgraded combat management, radar, and fire-control technologies. The program aims to significantly improve the warships’ operational effectiveness through advanced sensor integration and enhanced command-and-control capability. Central to the upgrade are the Tacticos combat system and NS100 active electronically scanned array radar, designed to improve air and surface threat detection in complex environments. The modernization reflects Greece’s broader naval modernization effort as it seeks to maintain credible maritime defense capabilities in the Eastern Mediterranean.
