Plamen Rocket System Presented as Technology Opportunity for India’s Defence Industry Brahmastra Explosives and Ammunition has expressed interest in introducing the 128 mm Plamen multiple launch rocket system into India’s defence industrial base. Designed for rapid deployment and quick relocation after firing, the Plamen provides tactical commanders with highly mobile indirect fire support against troops, logistics centres, command posts, and lightly armoured vehicles. While India’s indigenous Pinaka system already delivers superior range and payload, the 128 mm launcher could address specialised tactical requirements where lighter and more mobile systems are advantageous. The company views the technology primarily as an opportunity to strengthen India’s expertise in rocket motors, launchers, warheads, and propellant manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. However, no procurement programme or production agreement has yet been announced, making the proposal an industrial concept rather than a confirmed acquisition.
