The US Marine Corps is conducting specialized training to help personnel respond to small unmanned aircraft threats with their existing individual and squad-level weapons.During a three-day exercise at Twentynine Palms, California, Marines from the 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions practiced engaging simulated sUAS using rifles, shotguns, and grenade launchers. The training scenarios were designed to replicate challenging close-range drone attacks. Some simulated targets approached to within 20 meters, while others traveled at speeds of up to 90 miles per hour. The exercise provides Marines with hands-on experience in recognizing and responding to drone threats without relying solely on specialized counter-UAS equipment.
