India is developing a domestically produced 105mm tank gun for the Zorawar Light Battle Tank as part of efforts to increase indigenous defense capability. The new weapon will eventually replace the imported Belgian-made gun fitted on early Zorawar prototypes developed for mountain warfare operations in regions such as Eastern Ladakh. The DRDO-L&T program reflects India’s push toward self-reliance in armored systems, with future production models expected to feature greater localization of key subsystems, including weapons, fire-control systems, and ammunition support infrastructure.
